Why Use Folders in AudioLens?
Folders help you categorize and manage your recordings, making it easy to locate files based on projects, teams, or timeframes.
For example, you can create a folder structure for client meetings, team discussions, or quarterly reviews, ensuring your recordings are organized and readily available.
Step-by-Step Guide to Folder Management
1. Accessing the Folder System
Navigate to Library: Tap the "Library" tab in the navigation bar to access your folder system.
Default Home Folder: All recordings are initially saved in the default "Home" folder, which serves as the root directory. This setting can be changed in App Settings.
2. Creating a New Folder
Add a Folder:
Tap the "Add Folder" button in the Library view.
Provide a name for the folder (up to 30 characters).
Folder Placement:
All your folders and sub-folders are created under the "Home" folder by default.
You can also create subfolders within existing folders, up to 3 levels deep.
For Example: Create a folder named "Q1 Reports" under "Team Meetings" for better organization.
3. Organizing Recordings
Moving Recordings:
Tap the ellipsis (three dots) menu next to a recording and select "Move."
Choose the destination folder from the list or search for it using the search bar.
Star important Audio Recordings: Highlight critical recordings by starring them for quick access.
4. Managing Subfolders
Create Subfolders:
Navigate to the parent folder where you want the subfolder.
Tap "Add Subfolder," name it, and save.
You can create up to 25 subfolders per folder.
Navigate Hierarchies: Use the breadcrumb navigation to switch between parent and child folders easily.
5. Renaming and Deleting Folders
Rename a Folder:
Tap the ellipsis menu next to a folder and select "Rename."
Enter a new name (up to 30 characters) and save.
Delete a Folder:
Only empty folders can be deleted.
If a folder contains recordings or subfolders, move or delete them first.
6. Using the Trash System
Deleted Items:
Deleted recordings and folders are moved to the Trash.
Items in the Trash are retained for 30 days before permanent deletion.
Restoring Items:
Navigate to the Trash, select the item, and tap "Restore" to move it back to its original location.
Best Practices for Folder Management
Plan Your Structure: Think about how you’d like to categorize recordings before creating folders. For example, organize by projects, clients, or departments.
Limit Subfolder Levels: Keep the hierarchy simple to avoid confusion and excessive nesting.
Use Clear Names: Choose descriptive names for folders to quickly identify their contents.
